Mykea Terms of Use

Last updated: 30 October 2026

These terms are an agreement between you and Jonathan Montgomery ("we", "us") about your use of the Mykea app ("the app"). By downloading or using the app you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.

If you got the app from Apple's App Store, Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies (https://www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula/). Where these terms and Apple's say different things, these terms apply, as far as Apple's terms allow.

1. What the app is

The app shows step-by-step 3D guides for assembling flat-pack furniture. The guides are generated by the app's software from product dimensions. They are not the manufacturer's assembly instructions. They're meant to help you follow along. They don't replace the paper manual that came with your furniture.

2. Not affiliated with IKEA

Mykea is an independent app. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by IKEA or Inter IKEA Systems B.V. IKEA and product names such as BILLY, KALLAX, HEMNES, MALM and PAX are trademarks of Inter IKEA Systems B.V. The app uses them only to identify which product a guide is for.

3. Safety: please read

Assembling furniture involves tools, heavy parts and, for tall units, fixing them to a wall. By using the app you accept that:

  • You should check every guide against the paper manual in the box. If they disagree, follow the manual. Generated guides can contain mistakes, such as the wrong part, the wrong order or the wrong orientation, and a product may have changed since its dimensions were recorded.
  • Tall furniture must be fixed to the wall. Wardrobes, bookcases, chests of drawers and other tall or top-heavy units can tip over and cause serious injury or death, especially to children. Use the wall-fixing hardware supplied with the product, and fixings suited to your wall type. If you're unsure, ask a professional.
  • You should use the right tools and protective equipment, get help with heavy or large parts, and keep children and pets away while you work.
  • You should check for hidden pipes and cables before you drill.
  • You use the guides at your own risk. You're responsible for deciding whether a step is safe, and for the finished furniture being sound and secure.

4. Free use and paid licences

Free: you get one free build each calendar month. Step 1 of any guide is a free preview. Going past step 1 uses that month's free build, and that product stays unlocked, so you can finish it or come back to it later. Your free build resets on the 1st of each month, and an unused one doesn't carry over. The counter is kept on your device.

Lifetime licence: unlocks unlimited builds. It's a one-off purchase with no subscription and no renewal: €2.99 in Ireland, or the local price shown in the store.

The price is shown in the app before you pay, in your local currency, including any taxes the store charges. It may differ by country and may change. A price change never affects a lifetime licence you've already bought.

Lifetime licence

A lifetime licence is a one-off payment. It unlocks unlimited builds in the app for as long as we make the app available on your platform, on any device signed in to the same Apple ID or Google account. It's tied to the app, not to your lifetime. If we ever stop offering the app, we'll try to give reasonable notice.

Restoring, refunds and cancellation rights

  • Use Restore purchases in the app to get your licence back on a new device or after reinstalling.
  • Apple or Google handles payments and refunds under their own policies. Ask Apple (https://reportaproblem.apple.com) or Google Play for a refund. We can't issue refunds directly.
  • EU and UK consumers: you have a right to cancel purchases of digital content within 14 days. When you buy, you ask for the licence to start straight away and accept that you lose this right once it starts. This doesn't affect your other statutory rights, including the right to a remedy if the app is faulty.

5. Licence to use the app

We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the app on devices you own or control, for your own non-commercial use, as allowed by the rules of the store you got it from. You may not copy, resell, reverse engineer or redistribute the app except where the law allows it.

The app includes open-source software, which is licensed under its own terms. Email team@shamrockai.ie for the list of components and their licences.

6. Changes and availability

We may update the app, change or remove products and guides, or change these terms. If a change to the terms is significant, we'll tell you in the app or in the release notes before it takes effect. If you keep using the app after that, you accept the new terms. We don't promise that every product, size or guide will always be available, or that the app will work on every device.

7. Our responsibility to you

  • We provide the app and its guides "as is". We don't promise that a guide is complete, accurate or suitable for your particular product.
  • As far as the law allows, we aren't responsible for loss or damage caused by following a generated guide instead of the manufacturer's instructions, by not fixing furniture to a wall, or by misusing tools. That includes damage to the furniture, your home or other property.
  • Our total responsibility to you for any claim relating to the app is limited to the amount you paid for it in the 12 months before the claim.
  • Nothing in these terms limits or excludes any liability that can't be limited by law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or your statutory rights as a consumer.

8. Privacy

How the app handles your information is explained in the Mykea Privacy Policy.

9. Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the law of Ireland. If you're a consumer, you can also bring a claim in the courts of the country where you live, and you keep any mandatory protections of that country's law.
