Mykea Privacy Policy
Mykea ("the app") is made by Jonathan Montgomery ("we", "us"), based in Ireland. This policy explains what happens to your information when you use the app on iPhone, iPad or Android.
The short version
- No account. You never sign up or log in, and we never ask for your name, email or phone number.
- We collect no personal data ourselves. The app has no analytics, no advertising and no tracking, and we run no server that receives your data.
- Your builds stay on your device. Which guide you're on, how far you've got and how many free builds you've used this month are stored only on your phone or tablet.
- Voice commands are optional. If you turn them on, your device's speech recogniser (from Apple or Google) listens for "next", "back" and "again". The audio may be sent to Apple or Google to be recognised. We never receive or store it.
- Purchases go through Apple or Google, and RevenueCat. RevenueCat is a service that checks your licence. It handles an anonymous ID and your purchase history. We never see your payment details.
1. Information stored on your device only
The app saves the following in its own storage on your device:
- the guide you're building and the step you're on,
- your parts checklist,
- how many free builds you've used this month.
None of this is sent to us. It's deleted when you delete the app. If your device backup is turned on (iCloud, or Google's Android backup), it may be included in that backup, which Apple or Google handle under their own privacy terms.
The furniture catalogue and every guide are built into the app and generated on your device. Searching for a product doesn't send your search anywhere.
2. Microphone and speech recognition
Voice commands are off until you turn them on. When you tap Voice for the first time, your device asks for permission to use the microphone (and, on iPhone and iPad, speech recognition). You can say no and still use the whole app: steps can still be read aloud, and you tap to move on.
When voice commands are on:
- The app listens only while a build is open and voice is switched on, and only for the commands "next", "back" and "again".
- Speech is turned into text by your device's built-in speech recogniser: Apple's Speech framework on iPhone and iPad, Google's speech service on Android. Depending on your device and language, the audio may be sent to Apple's or Google's servers to be recognised. They handle it under their own privacy policies: https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/ and https://policies.google.com/privacy.
- The app receives only the recognised text, uses it to move between steps, and then discards it. We don't record, store or send your audio or transcripts anywhere.
Reading steps aloud uses your device's text-to-speech and doesn't send anything off the device.
You can turn off microphone access at any time in your device's Settings.
3. Purchases and RevenueCat
You get one free build each month. To build more, you can buy a lifetime licence (a one-off purchase, with no subscription).
Payment is taken by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play). We never see your card details, name or email address.
To check which licence you have, the app uses RevenueCat (RevenueCat, Inc.), which acts as our service provider. When the app starts, and when you buy or restore a purchase, RevenueCat receives:
- An anonymous app user ID: a random ID created for your copy of the app. It isn't linked to your name, email or Apple / Google account.
- Purchase information: which product you bought, its price and currency, the dates, store transaction IDs and receipt data, and whether your licence is active.
- Device and app information: your platform and OS version, the app version, the store you bought from, and your country or region, language and currency settings. Like any internet service, RevenueCat also sees your IP address when the app connects to it.
On Android, RevenueCat may save the anonymous ID in Google's Block Store, so your purchase can be found again if you reinstall the app or move to a new phone.
We use this information only to unlock what you paid for, to restore purchases, and to see overall sales figures (for example, how many licences were sold in a month). It is not used for advertising or to track you across other apps or websites. RevenueCat processes it on our behalf under its privacy policy: https://www.revenuecat.com/privacy.
Apple and Google also process your purchase under their own terms and privacy policies.
4. What we don't do
- We don't sell or rent data.
- We don't use advertising, advertising IDs or cross-app tracking.
- We don't use analytics or crash-reporting tools. If we ever add them, we'll update this policy and the app's store privacy labels first.
- We don't knowingly collect anything from children.
5. Legal basis
Under the GDPR, Jonathan Montgomery is the controller of the purchase information described in section 3, and RevenueCat processes it on our behalf. We rely on:
- performance of a contract: providing the licence you bought, and
- legitimate interests: preventing fraud, and understanding overall sales in a way that doesn't identify you.
RevenueCat is based in the United States. Transfers are protected by RevenueCat's data processing terms, including the EU standard contractual clauses (and the UK addendum where required).
6. How long information is kept
- On your device: until you delete the app or clear its data.
- At RevenueCat: for as long as needed to provide and restore your licence, and for as long as tax and accounting rules require purchase records to be kept. After that, it is deleted or anonymised.
7. Your rights
You can ask us to access or delete the purchase information RevenueCat holds for your copy of the app. You can also object to how it's used, or ask us to restrict it. Because we don't know who you are, include your store order number when you email team@shamrockai.ie. On Apple it's on your receipt email; on Google Play it starts with "GPA.". We use it to find the matching record, and we'll reply within one month.
Deleting this data doesn't affect your purchase. If you later tap Restore purchases, your lifetime licence can still be recovered from your store account.
You can complain to the Irish Data Protection Commission (https://www.dataprotection.ie) or to the data protection authority where you live. In the UK, that's the Information Commissioner's Office (https://ico.org.uk).
8. Children
The app is a general-audience tool for assembling furniture and isn't directed at children. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children.
9. Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top and post the new version at this address. If a change is significant, we'll also mention it in the app's release notes.
